Let the Games Begin

Despite a forecast of  105-110 Degrees, in the next several days the Central Coast Women’s Tennis League (CCWTL) and the area Girl’s High School teams will kick off their Fall Campaigns. With lots of hard work in the off season, north county teams are ready to take on the rest of the area. There are 7 North County teams with 10-15 players on each…somewhere between 70-90 WOMEN working it up here alone.

The CCWTL rule changes have created quite a stir up and down the coast, and many teams have a brand new look. In the “A” Division Paso Robles Sports Club (PRSC) has a home match v SLOCC on September 6th, and Chalk Mountain will take on SMCC at home on the same day. Both Teams will be back in action on September 20 with Chalk at home vs Sinsheimer and PRSC away vs SMCC.

Paso Robles Sports Club has two teams in the A- Division and they will begin the season on their home courts against each other. Technically PRSC “Crush” will host the PRSC “Terminetters” on August 30th. September 13th “Crush” will compete in an away match vs SLOCC while the “Terminetters” will stay home to face Arroyo Grande.

The B+ Division will prove to be a busy schedule for North County as PRSC  “Blue”, PRSC  “In the Black”, and Centennial “Smashed Gals” will all compete. August 29th “In the Black” will travel to face SLOCC “Slam Sistas” while the “Smashed Gals” will stay home v SLOCC (2). On September 12th all 3 teams will be in action. PRSC “Blue” stays home vs SLOCC “Slam Sistas”, “In the Black” will take on SLOCC (2), and “Smashed Gals” will travel to SMCC.

With only one team represented in the B Division, PRSC will battle in matches vs teams south of the grade. August 29 they will start their season at home vs Sinsheimer. They have a bye on September 5 and then will be back in action on September 19 vs SMCC at home.

HIGH SCHOOL:

Girl’s High School varsity and Junior Varsity play begins in the next few days as well. Schedules are available on each school’s site but the first few home matches could certainly a few friendly local fans. Atascadero High School (AHS) and Templeton High School (THS) will face off as each other’s first competition this Tuesday at 3:00. THS will host this annual match up. AHS will follow with a match vs visiting Rocklin at home on August 31 at 2:00. THS will next host a home match vs Orcutt on September 7th @ 3:00. Paso Robles High will also take on Rockin and visiting Davis High School on September 2 at 10:00 in a pre-season match ups. Each Varsity Squad boasts between 10-15 girls on their roster with another 10-15 on the JV Squads.

Adding the CCWTL and High School participants together it is easy to estimate that on our North County courts there are 170 plus women and girls preparing to do their very best in the next few days. AMAZING!! Good skill to each and every single player, and may you all fight hard, and laugh harder.
