Fall 2016

As the rest of the nation celebrates Fall with cooler weather and changing colors, Central Coast lovers settle in to record breaking temperatures, heat waves, and 50-60 degree variations from morning to afternoon. That said, most of us see endless tennis opportunity and relish the arrival of High School Girl’s Tennis, and the Central Coast Women’s Tennis League (CCWTL).

Paso Robles, Templeton, and Atascadero High Schools completed their first round of play earlier this week. Paso Robles High is an even 4-4 in League Play. Templeton High is 2-5. While the team has struggled, Junior standout Mili Schmandt is a noteworthy 20-1 from the #1 Singles position. Atascadero High posts a 5-2 record and is the only North County team to boast of a winning record at the halfway point in the season. They are lead by a strong core of Juniors. Nicoline Breytenbach holds the #1 singles position with a 20-2 record, while Courtney Basdin teams with Lone Senior Sara Wulff to hold down a winning 13-8 record in the #1 Doubles Position.

CCWTL play is also underway with most teams playing 2 full matches at this point (with the exception of Paso Robles Sports Club A- having a first round Bye). Current standings for the month of September are:
